Rent

31 January 2019
I have come to a crossroads in my life, the house I live in is to be put on the market in under thirty days; I have no desire to have a roommate and I refuse to pay a mortgage on an apartment or place I am not going to own at some point in the future. Presently the Colorado market is a seller's market and with inflation the way it is now, I wouldn't purchase a home now even if I were able to. Don't get me wrong, I love the place I live! I pay a quarter of what most people pay here and get an entire floor to myself: two bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom! But again, it is to be put on the market soon and houses here are going for far above asking in less than 10 days.

I work 7 days a week, and have for over two years, spending little to no time at the place I pay rent. When I do take time off work it is to travel, not spend more time at the address on my driver's license. Like many other young, childless people across the world, I plan to become intentionally homeless. I have been thinking about this for the past five years, at least.  What do I actually use my place for? Sleep, laundry, shower- occasionally I cook food to take to work. I have had a guest one time in six months. So I find myself asking the same question over and over, "Why do I need a stationary place to sleep?"

I have read countless articles, seen nearly all the YouTube videos and looked at several diagrams and charts comparing campers, tiny homes, and car camping. I would love to have a tiny home! However, there are zoning issues and it is difficult to find land for sale at a reasonable price to put said tiny home. The obvious next choice would be a camper, but where do you put it? I was surprised to find out that even in the most undesirable locations cost $550 a month to park a camper. I surely do not want to drag it around with me everywhere. Backing a trailer of any kind is difficult, and I'm not sure I could successfully navigate the drive-thru at Chic-Fil-A.

Car Camping. It seems a little extreme, who could live in their car fulltime, and how?
